Devika Persaud is Of Counsel to the Sills Cummis & Gross Intellectual Property Practice Group. Her practice focuses on developing and protecting clients’ intellectual property rights and enforcing and defending those rights in federal court and proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). She also regularly assists clients through trademark clearance and prelitigation enforcement and defense efforts.

In addition to her work in intellectual property law, Ms. Persaud has worked on complex commercial litigation and dispute resolution matters in the areas of securities and structured finance, consumer financial services, product liability, bankruptcy, and contractual disputes.

Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Persaud practiced in the New York office of Kelley Drye & Warren and the Washington, D.C. office of DLA Piper. She was also a Law Clerk to the Honorable Todd E. Edelman in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

Representative Matters

    • Member of the trial team representing a multinational consumer electronics corporation in defense of a federal trademark infringement case.
    • Managed the defense of a NYSE-listed financial services company with over $14 billion in assets in a trademark infringement case – from responsive pleading through discovery, including taking and defending depositions of fact and expert witnesses, summary judgment, and pre-trial disclosures.
    • Represented a corporation in a case of first impression regarding applicability of tribal sovereign immunity to proceedings before U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
