In this special “Power 50” issue, the editors of NJBIZ ranked New Jersey’s 50 most influential people in the real estate industry. Ted Zangari is once again ranked; this year he is showcased in the Number 3 position (up 27 spots from last year). Mr. Zangari’s work in connection with the Economic Opportunity Act is highlighted.
NJBIZ has this to say about Mr. Zangari:
“We have yet to find anyone in real estate who understates the importance of the Economic Opportunity Act, and if there’s someone in the private sector who gets the kudos, many people say it’s Zangari.
‘He brought the business community together behind this proposal.’ One insider said, noting, outside elected officials, the Sills Cummis attorney was a driving force.
The sweeping incentives overhaul took much longer than most predicted, and it became fat with perks as South Jersey lawmakers took the reins, but there’s no doubt its passage was a shining moment for Zangari.
The Smart Growth Economic Development Coalition founder is widely credited with being one of the architects of EO13 and a point man for the business community as the bill navigated Trenton.
And along with his behind-the-scenes work, Zangari’s vocal, often-colorful advocacy for making New Jersey more competitive certainly did nothing to hurt EO13’s chances.
‘He should be way up there this year because of his impact, another source said. ‘I don’t know that he’s the only one who deserves credit, but he sure as hell deserves a lot of credit.’”
