As chair of this charity event, Mr. Buckley opened the program with warm welcoming remarks. Some of the sports legends in attendance were: football: Jim Marshall, Bobby Bell, Derrick Ramsey, Stu Voigt, Marv Fleming, Carl Eller, Dick Bass, Chuck Foreman, John Gilliam and Otis Sistrunk; basketball: Artis Gilmore, Danny Roundfield and Lucius Allen; baseball: Al Oliver and Ken Griffey Sr.; and U.S. Olympians John Carlos, Joetta Clark-Diggs and John Thomas.
