This March 20, 2006 New Jersey Lawyer article reports that the New Jersey Supreme Court’s Civil Practice Committee has begun recommending guidelines to control electronic discovery. Since the federal courts have adopted rules that become effective in December, the Civil Practice Committee believes the state court system should create similar rules. Jeffrey J. Greenbaum, a Member of the Firm and a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court’s Civil Practice Committee, states “The federal rules take a common-sense approach [to what is] evolving in the courts.” Mr. Greenbaum was an elected member of the ABA Section of Litigation’s governing Council and is its liaison to the U.S. Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on Civil Rules, the U.S. Supreme Court Committee responsible for recommending changes to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
