February 15, 2012
This article discusses many topics that were covered by the delegates at the ABA Midyear Meeting in New Orleans, including the guidelines on experts being withdrawn. According to the article, “The draft ABA Guidelines for Conduct of Experts Retained by Lawyers, which were developed by the ABA Section of Litigation, are intended to ‘create uniform best practices of what lawyers should seek from experts who are retained by lawyers on behalf of their clients,’ according to an introduction that accompanied the proposed rules.” The article also stated, “Jeffrey J. Greenbaum, co-chair of the task force that developed them, told Bloomberg BNA he believes the standards will be helpful to both lawyers and experts. The guidelines were withdrawn so that there is more time to discuss them with other ABA entities, and they will be brought before the delegates in August, he said. Greenbaum is with Sills Cummis & Gross in Newark.”
