Ted Zangari, Chair of the Public Policy and Government Relations Practice Groups and founder of the Smart Growth Economic Development Coalition, is quoted in The New York Times with respect to reclaiming contaminated sites. He stated: “The reality is that New Jersey is the first state in the nation to reach full build-out…. Developers have to become redevelopers, and they face all sorts of unique added costs and hurdles that did not exist in yesteryear when developing projects on 100-year cornfields.” He mentioned that new redevelopment, especially the Hackensack project which is featured in the article, illustrates the range of hurdles and possibilities.
