The New Jersey Supreme Court wants to mandate continuing education courses for the State’s lawyers. Peter Verniero, a Member of the Firm and former Supreme Court Associate Justice, is chairing the New Jersey Ad Hoc Committee on Continuing Legal Education. The committee’s focus is on revisiting New Jersey’s continuing legal education requirements and to make recommendations on how to improve the quality and delivery of CLE to New Jersey attorneys. According to the article, “Verniero’s 29-member committee of lawyers and judges has examined how much education should be required and how to track if lawyers are complying.” The committee recently wrapped up three public hearings and is expected to issue a report to the Supreme Court next summer.
