Senior U.S. Judge John Lifland granted a motion by Panasonic for Summary Judgment from the bench in a nationwide purported consumer fraud class action involving Panasonic’s HDTVs. Plaintiff’s attorney argued that Panasonic’s HDTVs failed to meet industry standards. During oral arguments, Jeffrey Greenbaum, argued for Panasonic, and stated: There is no deception here…Mr. Ford [the plaintiff] got what he was told he was getting.” The judge agreed and said the company’s interpretation of industry guidelines was the only reasonable one.
