Laura Sedlak is Co-Chair of the Sills Cummis & Gross Antitrust Practice Group and a Member of the Firm’s Litigation Department. A seasoned litigation attorney, Ms. Sedlak has a proven track record of driving innovative legal strategies from pre-dispute negotiations through trial and on appeal. She counsels clients across various industries—including pharmaceutical, manufacturing, fashion, marketing, construction, and more—guiding them through complex legal challenges in order to help achieve their business objectives.
Ms. Sedlak’s practice spans a wide array of high-stakes matters, including antitrust, intellectual property, trade secrets, class actions, and commercial disputes. She has represented clients in state and federal courts and in arbitration, and her strategic insights have often contributed to favorable resolutions for clients. Some notable representations include:
- Strategic Antitrust Counsel: Ms. Sedlak has advised clients in a variety of industries on antitrust matters in connection with both litigations and transactions. In addition, she has assisted clients with developing pricing policies, drafting agreements, and assessing antitrust risk. Her antitrust litigation experience includes customer class actions and competitor litigations, defending clients against price fixing and monopolization claims.
- Business Fraud Litigation: Ms. Sedlak has successfully led multiple business fraud cases from initiation to resolution, including cases involving self-dealing and fraudulent inducement in both New York federal and New Jersey state courts.
- Constitutional Challenge to State Law: Ms. Sedlak served in a leadership role on behalf of six businesses in the hemp industry, securing a permanent injunction that barred the State from enforcing portions of a newly enacted law that violated the dormant commerce clause and the supremacy clause.
- Ponzi Scheme Fraud Cases: Ms. Sedlak played a key role in resolving multiple fraud and breach of contract cases arising out of a massive Ponzi scheme on behalf of a large institutional client.
- Trial Experience: Ms. Sedlak has served in leadership roles in multiple arbitrations and federal court trials, including, most recently, a trial of breach of contract claims pursuant to the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).
In addition to her litigation work, Ms. Sedlak is deeply committed to pro bono service, having handled several pro bono cases involving eyewitness misidentification.
As a Member of the Firm, Ms. Sedlak values and understands her role in Firm leadership, where she contributes to building a collaborative and inclusive culture. She co-founded the current version of the Firm’s Associate Development Lunch Program, which is designed to foster mentorship and professional growth among Firm associates. Outside of the Firm, she serves on the Advisory Board of the New Jersey Law and Education Empowerment Project (NJ LEEP).
Before joining Sills Cummis & Gross, Ms. Sedlak was an Associate at the New York office of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.
