Gary W. Herschman is Chair of the Firm's Health Care Practice Group. His health care practice experience includes the representation of a diverse group of health care clients, including health systems, hospitals, nursing homes, long-term care facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, home health companies, investment funds specializing in health care, imaging centers, medical groups, ambulance companies, specialty care networks, management companies and other health care businesses.
Mr. Herschman represents health care providers in connection with strategically positioning themselves in the changing health care marketplace, especially strategic initiatives in light of the new Health Reform Law. This includes advising clients in regard to consolidations, affiliations, and mergers and acquisitions, as well as other strategic affiliations, alliances, joint ventures, MSOs, IPAs, PHOs and transactions relating to ACOs, bundling and medical homes. Mr. Herschman also advises health care clients on regulatory compliance (federal & state), corporate compliance, HIPAA, government investigations, and civil and administrative health care litigation.
Mr. Herschman presents at local and national conferences regarding health care law issues, with a focus on strategic ventures in light of the new Health Reform Law, hospital consolidations, affiliations and acquisitions, the formation of ACOs, regulatory compliance issues (Stark, fraud and abuse, etc.), structuring transactions and joint ventures, recent government enforcement initiatives, reducing whistleblower exposure and conducting "Stark" audits of hospital-physician arrangements. He also has had many articles on health care law issues published in local and national publications.
